I have been taking Spanish classes here for over a year and it has been amazing! I have tried several different programs to learn Spanish but none of them really made a difference until I came to World Language Institute. Their program offers individualized or small group classes and also has a meetup group that gives you the opportunity to have conversational immersion language experiences on a regular basis without ever leaving Houston! You can learn verbs and sentence structure anywhere, but if you want to be really bilingual you have to practice enough to actually think and communicate in the new language. This program gave me that opportunity and Marcela is an amazing teacher!

I love Marcela and World Language Institute! I came here knowing some basic Spanish, but not much more, and in one year, Marcela got me to an intermediate-advanced level. The lessons were completely personalized to what I wanted/needed to focus on, and she was incredibly responsive to my needs. She is also a genuinely lovely person, which made the lessons feel more like chatting with a friend (albeit in Spanish!). I also attended the Conversation MeetUps that World Language Institute offers, and those were engaging, structured, and always lots of fun. I can't recommend this place enough.

This was my first experience with a foreign language since high school, where I had only taken German. I wanted to learn the Spanish language to be able to have small conversations with my Latin American friends, and for a fun worthwhile learning experience. Starting from the very basics of learning the alphabet to now conjugating verbs in multiple tenses, Marcela has made this experience better than I could have expected. She tailors the learning environment to you, providing exercises that teach, along with forming a fun and enjoyable conversation.

During my class lessons and exercises, she will notice the areas in which I struggle. She then explains the idea for me in as many different ways as it takes to grasp the concept. She provides extra examples expressing and reinforcing the main idea.

In my classes, I feel absolutely free to express myself in our conversations and in the learning activities, along with what I want to achieve from my language classes. If a person wants to learn the Spanish language in a friendly, fun and effective way, I would recommend Marcela and my experience to anyone.

Can't say enough good things about taking Spanish lessons with World Language Institute. Their instructors are top notch and the founder is a dynamic, outstanding, fun instructor. She really has the ability to bring the Spanish class together and help each individual person at their own level.
I've been taking private Spanish lessons for almost a year and I am able to understand most conversations. We've been working on my business Spanish applications and it's amazing how much it's helped me with my clients already. World Language is really a great place to learn conversational Spanish or business Spanish.

I am currently studying Spanish with Marcela at World Language Institute and just love it! Marcela is a native Spanish speaker who has been formally trained as an ENGLISH teacher -- so she knows how to teach (and learn) a foreign language! Her approach to teaching Spanish is fun and as intense as you want it to be. She asks me what I want to focus on (because I'm not a beginner) but also inserts her own activities/conversations/learning moments based on what she hears me say (correctly or incorrectly) in her native tongue. Her classes are taught all in Spanish; her schedule is flexible; and her classes are cost effective with all materials provided. I'm taking private lessons but understand Marcela can also do smallish groups. I also want to give a Shout-Out to the Meet-Ups ("The Houston Spanish Language Meetup Group"). They are outstanding! The native-speaking leaders of the Meet-Ups are super great people to hang out with! They structure the Meet Ups just enough to focus our conversation and learning but also go with the flow given the attendees on any given night. Super fun and a great way to speak IN SPANISH (during game night, or picnic Friday, or around specific themes (ex: if you are part of the medical service profession and need to be bi-lingual))! I highly recommend both WLI classes and HSL Meet Ups with Marcela and her team!

The World Language Institute lets each student progress at their own pace.
I have been a student since early 2015, and have a demanding job that, at times, interferes with my commitment to learning Spanish. The team of teachers at WLI are very supportive. I probably would not have kept going in a more rigid academic structure.

If you want to learn proper Spanish with an emphasis on conversations, I highly recommend WLI.

I have been attending private classes here for about 2 years because this is an excellent organization. They also run regular meetups and cultural events. Their greatest strengths are flexible pricing, excellent teachers from around the world and welcoming approach. Overall it is more like joining a family than it is going to a classroom.
