In 2024, Johnston Road underwent seven months of construction, causing severe business losses to the shops on both sides. There was no prior notification in the early stages, and during the mid-construction business meetings, any issues raised by the shop owners were passed around without addressing the core problems. Not a single penny of compensation was offered to the businesses. The only communication we received was a reminder to pay our licence fee. What a ridiculous city government! Doing business here truly feels disheartening!

Some businesses have even gone bankrupt due to the prolonged construction. In my opinion, a good city government should strive to support its businesses, enabling them to better serve the local community with ease. This requires the full backing of the government. However, doing business in White Rock is truly challenging because the city government shows no concern for whether businesses survive or fail. All they care about is building more high-rises to collect higher tax revenues!

I still like this City Administration Building and the people. Read a few negative reviews, but we can't all be grumpy cat! Seen a few changes in the city administration over the years. Leaving my previous kind words review... think about how this small population city has to function, and is actually very impressive.

Nothing quite like watching the City of White Rock's Bylaw officer stand idly by as. Senior couple struggled to free their wheelchair from the train tracks at the pier. With hands casually in his pockets, chatting with others, even pointing at the couple's distress; the lack of empathy and basic human kindness was both disappointing and unsettling.

This City Hall closes down between Christmas and New Year, absurd. Three business days wasted when residents could possibly need services. Rude staff say this is standard for City Halls but I made calls to three other City halls in close proximity and they were all open during this time. In conclusion, I find this to be a White Rock thing.

More attention needs to be paid to control the speed of traffic along Marine Drive between Nichol and Bergstrom Streets. Speed limit is 50kph and often vehicles are travelling in excess of 70+kph. Such a beautiful stretch of roadway for cyclists, joggers and walkers with pets heading to and from the beach but spoiled with vehicular speed.

Navi was very helpful and put a garbage crew on a re-route to come round and pick up some shiftless guy's trash and recycling! Thanks NAVI, U Rock (I hope)!!....UPDATE. Nobody showed after two days. Apparently when you're put on this magical list that inspires confidence in the system, it's left to the discretion of the workers to come buy IF they have extra time. I guess I know how that goes now.... I took it to Surrey Waste Disposal Site. At least the guy there was helpful and complained that he never sees anyone, so I guess I'm the outlier.
