I brought my 3 year old here. Peter was amazing, he was patient and extremely helpful with my son. My son felt comfortable and did amazing on his exam this especially important for young children. Peter even help me pick out the correct frame for my son since he needed bifocals it was important to get the correct frame so that he was looking out of the bifocal window. I will forever be grateful for his kindness.

Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the eye care associates, my son had his glasses for 3 months. He was dancing in his prek classes another Child also dancing accidentally hit him in the face his bifocals fell and the leg broke. The glasses have warranty but Hector (associate) wouldn’t grant it. My son absolutely needs the glasses so I ended up at an another store near my house in Pearland in search for the exact frame. They looked at broken the leg and said it should be covered, that it was up to the associated. They asked where I bought them and I told them UH optometrist. The irony that Hector the same guy that said it wouldn’t be covered by warranty Also works at that Pearland store on the weekends. The associates there couldn’t believe UH told me it wouldn't be covered especially for a 3 year old who really needs his glasses.I will NEVER buy the frames or lenses from them again. Luckily found the same frame on Amazon (cheaper) and just popped the bifocals lenses in.

I would give 0 stars if I could. My student optometrist was awesome but the after care shows that U of H cares only for their students and not the care of the patients. After my visit, I lost my insurance and also lost my trial pair of contacts. I called and tried to pay for another trial pair (until I was able to obtain a new Job/Insurance). However, because I went past the time that I was supposed to come in, my contact lens subscription was never finalized, so I would have had to start the process over again with another $100 that I didn't have. This is my first and last time dealing with U of H. My previous optometrist cared about the patient and would allow an emergency trial pair to be purchased. Great school for students - patients find an optometrist that will care in the event of an emergency.

Had an appointment with a specialist from referral of another doctor. The staff was VERY nice and helpful from scheduling the appointment to arrival and throughout the appointment.

However the doctor I was referred to see was one of the rudest medical professionals I’ve ever encountered! When I asked a question to understand more about an acronym being used in reference to my eye the doctor gave a very kurt reply and walked out the door. The doctor’s reply was nowhere close to answering my question! I didn’t have an opportunity to ask again, the doctor returned toward end of appointment for maybe two minutes saying do this, that and back out the door.

I’ll be looking for another doctor that takes the time to answer my questions/concerns and shows care & compassion for their patients.

My appointment with Dr.Smith and her medical students Nick and Max was amazing. I receive best care and testing. I felt secure they would come up best come up treatment plan to my case. I was very nervous about ERG and VEP. They explained the whole procedure and answer any questions! This place truly values patient care and comfort.

The residents are extremely competent and thorough, and their supervisor, Dr Herring, was spot-on regarding my diagnostic. Excellent service by accomplished professionals.

I usually see the AMAZING Dr. Pate, but I needed to reschedule because of work and Dr. Smith had an opening that worked for me so I took it. I was so grateful they could fit me in since I'm the one who couldn't make my originally scheduled appointment.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!! Before providing any care or performing any exams, Tera told me that she and Dr. Smith noticed I see lots of doctors that share the same credentials/specialty, and they were trying to see if (for insurance purposes) this exam would be covered. This information was incorrect and the way it was presented was quite off-putting and very unprofessional. I see a neurologist, a neuro-ophthalmologist, and an optometrist. Regardless, INSURANCE IS HANDLED WITH RECEPTION, NOT IN THE EXAM ROOM WHERE PATIENTS ARE PROVIDED CARE. As I sit here in this exam room waiting on either Tera or Dr. Smith to return, I feel dismissed and as if my condition and symptoms are being trivialized.

Save your money and go to another optometry, all this clinic cares about is money. Front desk ladies need sole customer service training. Better communication. I went in for an eye exam for contacts even with good insurance I still had to pay $150 out of pocket! The process just for an eye exam took about an hour and half, never have taken that long before just for an eye exam. The gentlemen who helped was very nice, just hated how long it took for the exam. Sorry never coming here again.
