Went there to have my headlights fixed and engine light wasn’t on before coming there. They tried to fix it, but they told me they ran out of time to fix it since they were closing. I started the car and the engine light suddenly turned on and car stalled. They told me they don’t know why it turned on. I paid 145 for the labor and headlight wasn’t fixed and engine light was on as well.

I had a campervan in Strathcona provincial park that was having some alternator/charging problems. Brian, Roger, and Ryan were able to help my renter the next day! For context every other shop is booking weeks in advance and were quick to turn me away. Not only did they help me, but they were kind and thoughtful around the situation I was in. They were willing to drive to where my renter was and get my van in tip top shape once again. Normally has been a decent experience with them I have 3 boats and 2 vehicles so I have been here several times over the years. This last time just was off I guess. I brought in an old starter. Needs a rebuild. They said they'd call tomorrow with a price once they looked. Tomorrow came and went. I went in the next day to see what was up. They said they'd call with a price tomorrow again. OK. Then 3 days later I go back in to see what the price is to get an $800 quote. It's to rebuild a starter. 3.5 hours labor and $400 in parts. I decided not to do the job as they'd said in the beginning it wouldn't be over $500. Over all, if you say you're going to call it sure looks better if you actually call back within a day or 2 of when you said you would. I think that was the tipping point for me. Wasted 5 days waiting for a call. They charged me $50 to get my started back in pieces. Hopefully they're all there 🤞
EDIT; position of solenoid wasn't marked and the "clips" were missing but flesh auto and electric rebuilt er and even sent it back all painted up for $371. Big price difference. Works great now.

Quality work, detailed diagnoses, thorough explanations. I prefer to have them work on my car even after I moved to the mainland (parents still live here).

My family had a few issues on different vehicles. A couple cases:

1. The shop staff diagnosed an engine issue, looked up TSB's, and advised contacting the dealer. They gave me a write up to take to the dealer, and the engine was warrantied.

2. Diagnosed multiple issues more thoroughly than the last two shops combined. Did specific tests unlike the "we couldn't see/hear anything" inspections from other shops.

Fantastic experience! We had trouble starting our Honda CRV while visiting Campbell River, weren’t sure what the problem was but had a recommendation to visit Brent and his team at Penner automotive. They were able to diagnose the issue (faulty starter), source the part locally and instal for us at a reasonable price - right at the quoted amount despite the guys having to work on the vehicle in the parking lot instead of on the hoists (it wouldn't restart to move it).

Their team was great, Brent was super friendly / flexible and the techs were excellent.

The battery in my vehicle was dying, and they were able to get me back on the road with a 5-year warranty on the battery (a lot of places don't have much more than a year warranty) for a reasonable price, in less than 15 minutes. Very impressed. Really saved my bacon in a tough spot.
