You would think they would do better to keep power to paying customers, especially when the storm warnings they give are usually issued days, if not weeks, in advance. Instead, we pay exuberant prices for mediocre at best service. Lower your prices or give us the service we're all paying for.

I attempted to get customer service to answer questions about how to start paying for power at a property that I have purchased. The representative kept asking me to hold so they could consult "the back office". End result, they would not talk to me about anything as they have no record of my owning the property (although we have had possession for almost two years). They required us to send the agreement of purchase and sale to them before they would talk with us. When we asked them to send an email to us outlining what was required from us they said they could not. They could only give us an email: home@nspower and tell us to send our agreement of purchase and sale to this address. The reason was "privacy" When asked for a case number or name to reference in the email we were sending again they said no, again citing "privacy". This was very unhelpful customer service. Essentially, send your personal information off to this unknown entity with no idea of how it is to be used, when, why, and by whom. An email outlining the how when why and who would have gone a long way toward making this exchange actual 'customer service'. This felt like stalling and stonewalling for no appreciable reason. Cannot imagine the response to an actual acute problem.

Lived in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Newfoundland and never been charged a security deposit for an essential service like power. Pretty ridiculous.

Great that they cut trees and branches away from power lines to prevent power outages, but leaving the branches and tree trunks all over your property and not taking it away? That stuff turns into tinder and what doesn't clogs up drainage ditches. Irresponsible and dangerous.

Disgusting monopoly company with absolutely terrible service, horrific prices, and even worse scheduling! To say this "company" is poorly run, is an insult to poorly run companies. It is unfortunate that I cannot give negative stars on this review.

After WEEKS of trying to get power hooked up to my shop, and losing money every day, I am still without power, and have never been given an answer as to when I will be getting it. No matter how many times I call and ask for any kind of information or help.

They simply do not seem to care. At all! They'll get to it when they get to it they say.

Unreliable compared to how it was as a public utility. Problematic policies, and an insult to the community to re-claim this building after the film industry created an neighbourhood out of a disused industrial power plant.

Top-dollar rates for bottom-dollar service.... not to mention, they use every little rainstorm to "justify" rate hikes.

Their new "smart meter" was installed on my house and the technician did not do the proper paperwork. I was not being charged for power for a few months and had to call in to rectify the issue. This caused my equalized billing to get messed up as well.

I see brand new "nova scotia power" vehicles driving around, I see a brand new offices and corporate buildings.... but I still see old, decrepit power poles and mass outages during moderate weather.

*UPDATE*

Since installing the "smart meter" my billing has been messed up and I keep getting notifications that I "missed 2 payments" despite being on equalized payments and never missing one.... this has been on-going for several weeks now. This despite assurances that it was "fixed" according to the customer service rep.
