Yard staff is often rude , the office workers are nice but I spent 2 hours trying to get out of the dump here … I don’t know why they’re letting people in to the dump if it takes 2 hours to get out. It’s ridiculous

Twice have brought drywall here for recycling from my renovations.

IMPORTANT: Do not by those expensive gypsum bags at hardware stores. Those are for asbestos drywall only and New West Gypsum won’t even allow you into their yard, and you’ll have to go take your drywall out of those bags (and thus put it into other bags if the drywall pieces are very small & crumbly and can’t really be dumped by hand). This happened to me and it sucked.

Straightforward process:
- Drive onto scale
- Present piece(s) of date-stamped drywall OR lab test results proving no asbestos
- Fill out a form (don’t forget the back of it 😂)
- When waved in by staff, drive into the yard and park where directed
- Dump your drywall (if in bags or a container, dump out the drywall and take the bags/containers with you)
- Drive onto the exit scale and pay by weight

Cost me $28 for 260kgs of drywall in my vehicle

Who knows how old some of this drywall is. There is major asbestos flying around in large clouds from the loader and excavator moving this material. Very little is done to mitigate the clear and present safety hazard.

Staff and public alike seem to be unaware of the dangers from inhaling asbestos not to mention neighbors in the area. Large clouds of gypsum can be seen on a daily bases at this facility.

How can this be legal? The place should be shut down. The owners and management clearly have no regard for public safety.

Absolute miserable experience every time I go here. The employees are extremely rude and confrontational without any provocation.

I called beforehand and made sure I knew the rules about what can and can't be dropped off. The lady was really helpful and friendly. I set off early Saturday morning ( they open at 8am, 7am on weekdays) and rolled in straight away. The lady at the weight scale was also friendly and helpful. The guy checking the load was great too. Great experience!

I went at 330 pm on a Wednesday, wait was about 10 minutes, not bad. The guy working the yard was busy, but helpful and straight to the point. Lady at the booth was very unfriendly, after paying and getting my receipt I said "Thank you!" She replied with a dry 'yeah, ok'. Cost me $16 to dump 4 heavy garbage bags of tile and drywall, fair price. Make sure your drywall has a date stamp on it, they will want to see it!!

Lets be honest. Not many options when needing to dispose of drywall,. So the service provided is valuable. My criticism is with the customer engagement.

I was sent her from the dump when I tried to dispose of some drywall.

Showed up at the gate and was asked "if the drywall had any dates", I had no idea so I said "I don't know". I'm not in construction, demolition or other trades. Lady at window asked again, I responded the same "I don't know". She then yells, if you turn your truck off then you can hear me.

I turned the truck off and answered the same to the same question.

I clarified, I have no idea what the dates are but suggested I look could look if that was helpful.

Was told "You should know".

This is where things went sideways.

Got a sheet of paper shoved in my hand and directed on how to proceed. Fellow at the end was informed of my arrival via radio and I received similar customer experience.

Will this review help with your dumping of drywall? I dunno, but maybe you should go on Tinder and get your drywall some dates just to be prepared.

In the end, I dumped the drywall, paid my money and moved along.

Very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and profanity that the employees use while dealing with the public.

Coaching needed from upper management.
Not the first time this has happened.

I work with the public and it's a known issue at this location.

Thanks.
