Paul and Marty did an excellent job updating our outlets and lighting in a kitchen remodel. Paul was resourceful in finding new pot lights that fit the old holes - which we were finding to be a difficult task. We appreciate that the job came in under the projected cost. Here is my detailed review. Paul is a nice guy and for the most part was professional and timely. For anyone looking to do large scale electrical work with him please due extra due diligence

1. Very inaccurate estimates. Paul charges hourly and Halfway through the job we were running out of money. He said “roughly 18k more to get the job done”. I ended up paying him another $35,000. We of course were late coming up with this unexpected money but we did pay him in full

2. Unfamilar / sloppy with basic ESA code. Fire and smoke alarm were installed in the wrong locations. Even the collingwood fire inspector asked me “who was you’re electrician? Were they from in town. They were surprised that a certified electrician does not know the minimum measurements for smoke and co alarms. Paul refuses to come fix this m

3. Unfamiliar with requirements and dealing with utility companies. We hired Paul because we need to bring in new service from EPCOR (hydro company for collingwood). He was given very specific drawings that were approved from the utility company. Paul wanted to take the easier route and make up his own drawings instead of just following what was approved. He assured me it would be no issue and would save me money with material. NOT ONLY did he charge me more than original for this material but it delayed our project for months. EPCOR technicians were shocked that a licensed electrician would think they could just make up their own drawings and not follow what was approved

4. No warranty. For the amount of money we spent you would think everything would last. Within 3 months we are already having issues with electrical. Our EV charger keeps tripping and sparking. Again Paul refuses to fix

Overall. I would be very careful with hiring him. If you do, just take my advice and keep and eye on what he does and how he invoices you.

Paul from Mountain Electric exceeded our expectations! He skillfully installed smart companion switches, multiple pot lights, and an outlet in our home. What impressed us most was his ability to complete the entire job without requiring any drywall work or painting afterwards - a huge time and cost saver.

Paul was not only highly professional and knowledgeable but also friendly and personable throughout the project. His prices were very reasonable, especially considering the clean installation that didn't necessitate additional repairs.
