I am so thankful for this school. The faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the best experience possible for every student. Learning is tailored to my son’s needs and abilities. The small size of the school allows plenty of attention for each student.
As a former public school teacher, I can say that Lakeland Institute for Learning is far superior for those that need extra support, and I love the family atmosphere. I highly recommend this school for any student with special needs.

Words cannot fully express how grateful we are for this school and the incredible impact it has had on our child. The teachers are passionate, caring, and truly dedicated to the success of every student. From the moment we enrolled, it was clear that this school goes above and beyond to ensure every child is not just educated, but truly understood and supported. All through elementary and middle school our son did well in the public school system. He was in gifted classes and his 504-plan seemed to be all he needed to be successful, however when he entered high school his struggles with social anxiety due to his autism caused severe depression. For him, the social expectations were impossible, the schedule was too fast-paced, and the workload was overwhelming. He became extremely withdrawn, and his grades were at rock bottom. This all culminated in a mental health crisis that we did not see coming. After trying multiple avenues with the public school system, we found Lakeland Institute for Learning. Through small class size, genuine consideration of each student’s unique needs, and commitment to every student’s access to the state’s standards, Lakeland Institute for Learning is providing a critically needed alternative for many students. For our son, it has been life changing. He is engaged and participating in class more than ever, getting good grades again, making friends, and even attending prom! Not too long ago, our goal was just to see him graduate high school, but we learned this week that he is on track to graduate with some college credit! Now he is looking forward to an education beyond high school. We are so grateful for Lakeland Institute for Learning and their staff.

This school has been a blessing! My son struggled from VPK all the way through middle school in Polk County public schools. Shuffled from one grade to the next with services constantly being taken away.
The teachers and administrators at Lakeland Institute for Learning have been his champion for 3 years and he continues to learn and grow. Words can not express my gratitude to everyone involved at this school.

Lakeland Institute for Learning is a school where your child with special needs is treated with respect, compassion but most of all, is given the tools to succeed academically. The staff is dedicated in helping every child learn the skills needed to graduate from high school. The school plans activities to help its students socialize with other classmates and at the same time have fun. Every child with unique abilities should be given the opportunity to succeed not only in school but as an individual and Lakeland Institute for Learning is a place where every student is given that opportunity. I know because our son was one of the first students to graduate from Lakeland Institute for Learning and is pursuing a degree at Polk State College. If you want a school with a smaller setting, a great staff and academic curriculum, Lakeland Institute for Learning is the school for your child.
