The irrigation technicians did an excellent job. I was given a verbal quote for all the work completed and when I was billed for the actual work, it came out to be about 40% higher than they verbally quoted when the work was completed. I’ve spoken to Hydro about this. They decided not to do anything about it. I can accept a higher price but not 40% higher than the verbal quote by an experienced senior technician. I’ve concluded that I will never use their irrigation services again.

David and Mike have been very responsive which is always ideal; however, what I've been most impressed by is the team's ability to listen to our needs and address them quickly and completely. We recently had a lawn renovation and the team was so careful when relocating irrigation heads and re-routing the water lines that the lawn and plant beds looked untoched. Truly remarkable quality. Hydrotech installed my system and has serviced it for years. They have been good mostly, but I have also had my share of issues with them.

They don't always check their work. You could end up with a large water bill. This could also result in paying them to drive out and fix something they should have noticed during turn on.

When I went to disconnect my rachio smart controller while selling my house, they were no help with the process. They just said, you have to contact Rachio (which is not easy). I reminded them that they sold me the controller, to which they responded "and you bought it "

Luckily I finally found instructions on how to remove my account and factory reset the controller. It seems like it is something they should have known, rather than just putting the problem back on me.

Today was another great experience with HydroTech's pleasant, expert and extremely knowledgeable technicians. Besides maintenance and annual turn-on/turn-off service of my irrigation system, I have HydroTech do my lawn aeration and seeding. Today the crew who came to service my lawn discovered a major leak (in a 20-year old underground part), which was repaired quickly and at a reasonable cost. I have confidence in HydroTech's crews; the company is also very responsive to questions. Service is easy to schedule and their crews always show up as promised. The level of expertise among their staff and the overall reliability of their service is why I have been a repeat customer for more than a decade.

I bought the house almost 10 years ago and inherited Hyrotech. I’ve worked with them but it’s terrible. During spring openings I would get hit every year to replace ~1/2 the valves. Finally I started asking for an invoice to document what valves were actually replaced. Lately they charged me for work that “didn’t work” on a zone and I had paid to repair a leak in the system that actually wasn’t fixed either. When I call it’s a 45min wait on average so I’m done with this business.

We've had a Hydrotech Irrigation Company system for 15 years. They installed it and have maintained it ever since. We find them competent, responsive and very knowledgeable. For the new back flow installation recently required by Fairfax County, we reached out and got a reasonable price with an early June installation date. To reach them by phone, I call, leave a detailed message and then I receive a timely return call. Nice to work with a contractor you can say something good about.
