In February of this year I was in a bind and needed some electrical work. Erickson's Electric was able to squeeze me into their busy schedule (which was very appreciated!). The electrician who came was lovely, if a bit distracted about some things (we all have those days). After drilling a hole in my ceiling in the wrong spot (twice - I have pictures), I asked if we needed to clarify the request. I confirmed that the pot light needed to be centred above the tub - not in the main bathroom area. He quickly installed it in the correct position. There were also some random wires (this house is a bit of a puzzle) that (what I understood from him) were dead and could be pulled. He forgot an entire spool of electrical wire so I called to have him pick it up - I understand they can be expensive to replace. He really seemed to be having a rough day.
I ended up repairing the ceiling at my time and cost (bathroom was being redone), and when I had another electrician come to finish some other wiring, I mentioned that there were dead wires that could be pulled. As they'd been housed behind where the bathroom vanity would be getting installed, I figured I may as well just get them out before that happens. Turns out they were very much live wires, and the current electrician informed me of same and told me what my options were (I just had them plated). I paid the electrician for the correction. When I called to discuss with EE, it did take quite a long time (around April) and I was told they'd get back to me. Last week I was sent the invoice (again) for the full amount, and when I brought up the $200 I had to pay the other electrician to fix things, it turned into a bit of a "he said, she said" situation. While I am sure it was a misunderstanding on both parts, I felt uncomfortable and felt as though they thought I was lying or stretching the truth. I told them to just put it through on my card.
While I feel subtracting the amount I had to pay someone else to repair the work off the bill would have been more fair, it was very nice to see that about $100 was taken off when the payment went through. If you got this far, the only thing I would recommend is that your request is very clear and to have information written down by the electrician so nothing is misinterpreted. The billing took quite some time (February to June) so resolving things quickly wasn't really an option. Super friendly staff though.
