Three gentlemen showed up from Northern Insulation and insulated our basement. They were very friendly and professional and did an excellent job. I know this will have a positive effect on our heating bills. Thank you for your excellent service!

Thank you!!!! All I can say is THANK YOU! This is the ONLY program I have found that is legit. I qualified for heat pumps, they have been installed and are working wonderful….AND it was no cost to me….not one penny. I did not believe it myself but it happened as they said and it is all true! Just apply…call in…ask questions….they have been absolutely wonderful and transparent about everything. Again-ZERO cost to me?

As the corporation that partners with Enbridge to facilitate the Enbridge Home Winterproofing program in my area, EnviroCentre falls far short of assisting low income people to save on energy costs. I first contacted them during the summer, hoping to access help in the heating costs for my century home before the fall/winter rush. The interior walls in my home are plaster, and there is no insulation present in the walls, attic or basement. I was told over the phone that because of a company "policy", they would not insulate my home at all due to the fact that you cannot apply spray foam insulation in a stone foundation basement. And if they can't do my basement, they won't do the attic - it is either both or none. This is a ridiculous reason to deny a service that has been offered to low income households. It seems as though they don't actually want to help people, but rather to look good in the public eye by offering help and not actually giving it. How many homes are they actually providing this crucial service to, after all is said and done, since they have implemented this backwards rule? And of course when I inquired if an exception could be made, or if there was an appeal process, their response was vague. Nevertheless, I scheduled a home visit. I had to cancel the first appointment because I was admitted to the hospital that week for health reasons. I rescheduled it for September with an agent who was to arrive at my home on a specific date, but never showed. I had written the date and time down, and even the name of the agent. He did not show up. I called EnviroCentre 2 days later. I was told that no such appointment had ever been made. The person I spoke to on the phone was brusque and non-committal. The implication was made that I had never booked that appointment. I rebooked for another available date. The same agent who failed to show up the first time was booked to arrive at my home November 1, 2024. On the scheduled date, this agent did a walk-through of my home, was uninterested in my inquiries about possibly making an exception to their bogus "attic-and-basement-or-nothing-at-all" rule, and left after handing me a bag of lightbulbs. The so-called smart thermostat that is also promised on the Enbridge website was never offered, and when I asked about it, he made an excuse about it. He did promise to have a new refrigerator delivered to my home at some point in the future, but that is of very little help to me. My current fridge is in good working order and doesn't demand much electricity. What would be nice is to be able to heat my house in the winter without having to skimp on food and other necessities. I followed up over a month later with a call to EnviroCentre about the fridge, just to supply them with an updated phone number. It was the same female agent who lied about the missing September appointment. She seemed upset that I was calling about the refrigerator, assuming I was trying to rush the delivery. I don't care how long it takes them to deliver a fridge I never wanted or needed - I was making a courtesy call to update my telephone number. I feel that this company should not be responsible for helping low income and vulnerable Canadian residents, and would like them to honour the Enbridge promise of financial aid to people in crisis. You make a promise, you keep it. Enbridge should be aware this is going on, and so should the public.

Seamless experience from start to finish. Both educators were highly knowledgeable, skilled and very passionate about their work. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you, Dylan and Jamaal!

Terri Brownell at EnviroCentre refused to let my application for the Energy Affordability Program go through (even though they would reply to me through e-mail) because I don't have a phone number. I suggested alternatives like email, zoom or giving me a set time to call where I could use a payphone. My e-mails were subsequently ignored after that. What poor custom service!

Tunde was great! Thorough and explained everything easily and simply. Gave me some big suggestions (windows, heat pump, solar panels) and small ones (duct tape around ducts, insulation around plugs). Very happy with his work, and he explained that they are overwhelmed with emails and phonecalls because of the NRCan program so he told me what timelines to expect from him (it would take him a week or two to submit the final audit) and he did it within the week. Very happy!

Update: somehow my file was later transfered to HER+ but I don't know who or how it was done. Communication from company was poor but the energy auditors were both good.

Had my pre and post audit done by this company as part of the Greener Homes Grant / HER+ program. Both service tech's were knowledgeable and pleasant, but the company failed to transfer my file over from GHG to HER+ despite many inquiries from them and now It seem too late. My energy upgrades were done on the understanding that I qualified (as they said) for the HER+ grant. For their incompetency I'm out almost $4,000.

Abysmal service. Do not let the 'non-profit' nature of this business fool you into believing it is some mark of quality. I received no substantive help or information about accessing or navigating the govn't loans and grants (the reason i hired them). No one staffs the phone lines. No one answered emails. After a month of dead silence I had to inquire with NRcan to see if they had gone bankrupt. It took them forever to file my paperwork, which cost me money every day as I waited.
To say that this business is run with the competency and professionalism of a high school student's civics project would be a criminal disservice to the good students of Ontario.
