Took over a year to get P.Eng designation, but there is definite discrimination in the application process for some applicants with EGBC giving the most most vague reasoning. And I'm only responding after a couple years after having it because I understand the valid frustration some applicants have

Imagine graduating from a top 20 engineering school worldwide, with only Canadian Engineering experience and EGBC still making you do an Experience interview, meanwhile some international applicants with international experience/education can't even hold down a Canadian Engineering job for 1 year (literally an individual with 8 different employers in 10 years) doesn't even have to do the experience interview.

EGBC tosses out merit on their processes and they're too chicken, just to meet some quotas

We got to MAKE EGBC GREAT AGAIN: MEGA

You'll never see EGBC respond to the fact they have varying standards for applicants because of DEI/quotas

Terrible. Will never respond to calls or emails. Make the application process as confusing as possible with assessments for some and not for others. Not available to provide clarification. They say they will respond to emails with 7 business days. Be prepared to wait up to 2 weeks

EGBC is a broken organization. No one answers calls, very late replies to email with no useful information. I have an application open with them since Aug 2021 with no prospect. They just suck money out of you with no service at all.

This organization has the authority to cause severe financial harm to your life and career if someone files a false complaint against you out of spite.
In my particular case, penalties and license suspension were imposed based on a complaint filed by another engineer (referred to as DL) who conspired with a builder to testify against me. The Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) reported that they spent over $80,000 on lawyers to pursue these allegations during hearings and prior to them. I can only imagine how much more was spent on the investigation that lasted about five years.
The complainant used his influence to manipulate EGBC employees in order to orchestrate witness interrogation to obtain the desired outcome. Eventually, he succeeded. I heard that he is a wealthy individual.
However, upon our appeal to a higher court, EGBC revoked all charges and penalties on "jurisdictional grounds," although we argued that there were significant deficiencies in the investigation and process. It appears that EGBC sought to avoid revealing its internal justice system, which I found to be ludicrous.
Even after that, to the best of my knowledge, no one has been held accountable for the damage inflicted on my business (which is now defunct), the exorbitant amount of money spent on legal fees, or for spending members' money on fruitless investigations and processes.
It is concerning to consider how many other cases may have been mishandled by EGBC investigators, particularly in those cases where this particular investigator (referred to as JR) was involved.
Nonetheless, it seems that EGBC values the contributions of those involved in this case, including the engineer who conspired with the builder and the investigator who accepted the false complaint, took directions from the complainant, and conducted an investigation.
Furthermore, it appears that one cannot sue EGBC for damages. Only EGBC can accept complaints about its own performance. This is mind-boggling.
I am open to sharing my story, along with all pertinent documentation, including names and dates, with interested parties such as the Daily Mail or Vancouver Sun.

Fantastic organization, well managed and very important work they are doing. Communication with them is very easy and streamlined. The website could use some work for clarity and functionality.

The whole concept of EGBC is ridiculous. Engineers pay a huge amount of money to EGBC to fine / dripline them and find a way to claim against them and take more money ? Why someone has to fund an organization to fine them ?

its been more than two months that I am trying to change my status from "non-practicing" to "practicing" and I have already met all requirements but I still did not get my status corrected.

They were ordered by the BC Court to review their own vague, unclear rules and practices.
