Extremely terrible. Customer service in essex is terrible. please update your website contact information. You still have Pam's email and she doesn't even work there anymore. Bills are questionable. due dates are never the same day every month. Power is constantly going down. We need a new provider.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Never moving back to Harrow now, a town we used to love. This company should be ashamed of themselves. We moved from Harrow 9 months ago, now we are being slammed with a supposed final bill (sent 2 months AFTER we ended service) that was sent to collections and we are only now being notified. We paid our last month but there was another mystery charge on top of it, no phone calls or emails received over the past year, and their only response is "we sent notices to your address in Harrow." Well how is that supposed to help when we told them that we were MOVING? When we asked why they didnt call they told us they were "too busy, we have x amount of other clients to deal with so we dont have time to call you." So you just send us to collections with NO PHONE CALLS?! Now we have to take from our GROCERY budget to pay these jerks. Completely unprofessional, I'm so happy we moved and are with HYDRO ONE now, a company that actually cares about their customers.

Random fees being charged, they never sent me a bill so it’s like they want to charge me more for late payment. Wish I had gone with another hydro company unfortunately they have me trapped due to my area.
Debbie never called me back, I had to call Rachel again as she also never called me back either then accused me of wasting their time with back and forth emails. Apparently they’re understaffed, probably because the company is so poorly run and the staff seem miserable. I never authorized a credit check that they charged me for and coincidentally I never received that bill in the mail. They said they need my SIN and DOB for a credit check but then Rachel said they don’t, so I have no idea how they tried to run it without this info?! Beware of this company!

Here is a timeline of events .

January 19, 2023- I signed up for service
Moved in February 8, 2023
Did not receive first bill until April 3rd (3months later)
Noticed high billing for the months April May June thought maybe because of the new area.

July 21- called ELK ENERGY to discuss the high bill. I called at 10:49 am, again at 10:50 am the. Finally at 3:13pm a lady answered. The lady on the phone was troubleshooting with TOU questions like am I doing laundry during the day or have the TV on during the day in which case I answered her that I was not doing that and had a previous house and am aware to not do that to keep costs down. She said to try to unplug things around the house then. And that was it.

Aug 8 - finally realized that I was originally signed up for TIER pricing which is why the bills were so high Even though I was only using the electricity like TOU rates. (The phone call on July 21 never said I was on tier and only reconfirmed I was supposed to be on TOU by the way she was questioning me)
The night of Aug 8 2023 I went online and switched my price plan.

Aug9 - spoke to a supervisor Anne I think her name was or Sarah she said that they could not go back and fix the charges only move forward and since I switched it online they would get right to it to actually change it in the system. She said that everyone gets signed up for TIER automatically as that is the preferred method for most of Essex .

August 15- called to ask what/how should I be using my electricity if I've asked to be switched over as it was still not changed she said to use it as if it were changed. So I did.

September 11- Received another bill still in TIER billing. My account still had not been changed so I went online again to change it.

Today is Friday September 22, 2023 and still nothing has been changed. I need to be credited for this absurd misuse of my time. This has been going on way too long and it has greatly impacted our financial situation.

ELK is the WORST energy provider I've ever seen in my time on this planet. I've built and serviced multiple substations, and worked in the Hydro industry for a LONG time. I've never before seen such a pitiful excuse for a business, ever. The amount of outages and time to recover is pathetic. The fact that they are charging for this service, and I use that term loosely, should be criminal. I've lived in remote rural towns over BC, Alberta and the Yukon that are challenging to service. They make ELK look like it's staffed by people who've never worked in the field/trade before. What is going on? Why the secrecy? I'd rather pay Hydro one double than receive the current service I'm getting.

Have had no power for going on 50 hours now in the dead middle of winter. Absolutely useless customer service all the food in our house has gone bad, impossible to get ahold of them. Could care less for their customers , need a new supplier for essex county you guys are a joke. You'd think they'd move with more urgency in a situation like this or better yet have a plan for when something like this happens? Pathetic. Anyone else rockin' 45°F in their house?
