Further to my previous comments, outlined below, Canadian Rite Rate has stepped up and is now honouring our contract. Although I would have previously given them a "5", I have amended my current rating from a 1 to a 3, given the stressful situation and inconvenience caused as a result of their actions. Hopefully, there will be no further surprises. (PREVIOUS COMMENTS..:)We have been with Canadian RiteRate for years and have always been pleased with their service. HOWEVER, an email was received yesterday evening from Enbridge advising that our marketer is terminating our 5yr contract (currently 2yrs in) at the end of October. In conversation with RiteRate this morning, I was advised that they have decided that the business is no longer sustainable and they are terminating the contracts of clients. They are relying on section 5.4, item 6 of the contract and have sought legal input regarding this matter. Just curious, what recourse does the general public have on this breach of contract
ADDENDUM: Following the above experience on Oct15th and a self-imposed cooling down period, I contacted the Ontario Energy Board and spoke with Maloney who informed me that, following many calls from disgruntled RiteRate clients, she had contacted them
herself. She was assured that all existing contracts would be honoured. She asked that I contact them again, which I did. I subsequently received a letter from them informing that they were reinstating my contract for the balance of the original 5yr term. Thanks OEB!

I also received a letter from Enbridge advising me that my RiteRate Natural Gas contract was being terminated Nov 1, 2021, about 4 1/2 years early. I contacted RiteRate October 20, 2021 and they indicated to me that the Enbridge letter was issued in error and they would honor our fixed price agreement. I certainly hope that they that they will continue to abide by the agreement and operate for at least the next 4-1/2 years. The alternative would have been complaining to the OEB, and last resort a small claims court case for damages.
