I visited the Habitat for Humanity Restore in Burlington looking for a specific item. instead, I left with more than I was looking for. Joe the manager was such a delight. From beginning to end he was amazing. So helpful, patient and attentive. The best customer service I have ever experienced. In fact, it seems to rub off on his staff, they were all great. I highly recommend a visit to this location.

Horrible customer service from the manager. Real jerk. Was inquiring about a piece of furniture for a few days that hadn't been brought out yet. Kept getting told it would be coming out onto the floor the next day then I was told its being transfered to orangeville. Didn't even make eye contact with me, just walked by and yelled its being transfered. The lady was very kind and tried to say we'd buy it right then but he refused still. Hope the company does something about this very rude manager. After reading all the other bad encounters with the manager I probably will not be going back until he is no longer there.

WOW! I don’t even know where to start.

I have been shopping at Habitat Milton and Burlington for years now. Since we are in the refinished business we literally spend thousands of dollars on their furniture. Staff has always been amazing and kind and Sarah was absolutely amazing in managing the Burlington location. Amazing customer service, very reasonable pricing and super kind. Same with Milton management. The ONLY location I would avoid was DIXIE in Mississauga as everything was majority overpriced, and Joe was just horrible to work with. Anything you ask - zero sympathy, his customer service skills are non existent!!! What a horrible human being. I have worked and managed many places myself and I dont know HOW this guy even got a job there, let alone managmant . We simply stopped going to Dixie location and continue to shop ar the wonderful Milton and Burlington. Day and night difference!!!! Then … one day … I stop at Milton Habitat and everything feels OFF! From set up to pricing, to overall nonsense. As I approach the kind staff there, I find out JOE is temporarily taking over management and WOW, total disaster! We were sooooo disappointed!!! Such a bad choice. The young guys at Milton are beyond kind and helpful. Same with volunteers and Susan, amazing people ( you should maybe start paying the volunteers as they do so much and customers love them and let Joe go all together). Milton changed for the worse during his management. And all the staff felt the same way, trsut me. I am a daily shopper there. FINALLY, SUSAN took over and bam! What a sweet soul. All back to normal. We love her! So today we make a trip to Burlington and we are simply in SHOCK!

I could NOT believe it’s the same place. Prices increased 300% plus! A smaller size buffet was listed at $1,500 ( extra note added that it’s worst $3570! Hahahah I almost died! We refinish antiques for a living for years and trust me, this is NOT worth this much. Pure rip off for a buffet this size. Under different management it would have been listed at $250 MAX. All other pieces were like $300,$280,$250! I could NOT believe this is actually happening!!!!! I spoke with few kind people there and I said WHAT is happening, who took over Sarah’s position and who is coming up with these prices? And guess what? JOE has moved from Dixie to Burlington location!!!! Now it all started to seem right. This is exactly what he does! Knows nothing about antiques, prices, running a thrift store! Have zero empathy, no customer service skills and everyone feels the same way about him. In all 3 stores! Poor people, as they truly are amazing. All the staff but Joe. We will not be coming back. Wish someone does something about it and enough people speak up to make a difference!!!! Very disappointing and poor choice for a manager. I usually don’t bother to leave a review but people need to be avare of this! This thrift store has turned into a regular store ( home sense pumpkins there were priced at $24 ( reg price $30, insanity).
Pieces in photos are priced at $1500, $300 long dresser, $280 dresser with mirror, WHAT

Sadly gone downhill.

I used to always make a point of stopping by on my way to the grocery store, sometimes daily. I used to find many gems here, especially electronics/audio equipment. About once a month I'd find some high end vintage item for peanuts! Also great looking furniture. In the last year or so, every time I've stopped in all of the items are just junk. The electronics are just plastic garbage and the furniture is mostly cheap and ugly. Rarely see anything of value and many junky items overpriced. I'm not sure if it's getting picked over or what, but it just isn't worth the time anymore.

On the donation side of things... don't bother wasting your time. 75% of the time they'll turn you away as they are extremely picky about what they'll accept. And you'll only get a tax receipt for items they value at over $400.

I usually end up heading up the street to value village once I'm turned away, so I stopped even bothering. Maybe this explains the lack of quality items?

On Tuesday May 6th 2025, I went into this store and saw cabinets that I wanted to buy, as I was looking at them there was another individual looking at it behind me so I decided that I will take the tags and buy it. I took the tags and brought it to the cashier and waited in line to pay for it. I made the payment with the cashier and she informed me take the sold tags and put it on the items and go to the loading dock and someone can help you. When I went to put it on the items, I could not find them on the floor, so I was informed to find someone on the floor as I got close to the loading dock I saw the same individual that was looking at the item having the cabinets being loaded into their vehicle. I showed the loader that I paid for the item and showed the receipt and the sold tag that was supposed to go on the item. This rude teenager that is one of their staff cut me off and said "AND SO? I AM ALREADY PUTTING IT IN THEIR CAR!" Yet the individual did not have the tags and was behind me in line... When I was checking out the teenager called the individual from the line and cashed them out with a value less than I paid and gave them a bogus receipt. And informed them to bring their car to the back.
So I asked to speak with the manager. Manager Joe came and did not even want to here me out, then said "we will issue you a refund." He did not even address the issue and the individual was still their with the cabinets. I was really frustrated, then the manager Joe said "LOOK! your lucky am allowing them to give you a refund. I am the one doing you a FAVOR! By giving you a refund"
In all my years I never dealt with anyone who would treat anyone that way. The lack of customer service and professionalism was appalling. BEWARE OF THIS STORE AS THEY ARE RACIALLY BIASED and PREJUDICIAL! If I could give them less than 1 star I would, and I will never go back there.

Donated 7 counter height stool, swivel, and a couple of electronic items. I was never thanked for donating was not give an income tax receipt referring to their assessment of value. Will go to Value Village from now on, at least they thank you with a coupon option.

Restore Thrift store are one of the best option to find used furniture and house hold stuff at very reasonable and cheap prices. If you are new immigrant and looking to buy furniture visit here instead of checking marketplace and talk with seller who offers expensive deals. Eeah item here is in average-good-great condition.
