July 12, 2023 visit:
New review, and sadly this Return-It site has gotten worse.
( Will include photo of exact bottles, as they are still in my car's trunk since leaving the depot. )
Woman dumped my bag of empty water bottles into large collecting container, picking out bottles without labels, refusing to recycle them. Telling me bottles needed labels to scan - despite the fact that the majority of the bottles I was returning were the exact same but with labels, and as is done with items at any store when a label is too hard to scan, an identical item with a working bar code is used for scanning. Absolute insanity. When I complained quietly, a male worker repeated the 'scan' sham. I told him this isn't right - holding up the bag of bottles they refused, and he told me I could just take them to another recycling site. I told him I'll take my complaint to the city.
I don't speak their language, so I've no idea what was being said loudly between them as I was leaving the premises.
This evening, I've also noticed I wasn't paid the full amount I was owed. The receipt said I returned 403 loose beer cans. I didn't. I had two clear bags of energy drinks and Western Family canned grapefruit water cans. 400 cans in total. I did return 12 loose beer cans and 1 glass Guinness bottle - these are not listed on the return receipt?
Add this business is dishonest to my list of grievances.
The operation needs to have somebody from the Return-It corporate office go and investigate the Maple Ridge Bottle Depot: MRD 100 accounting books. I can't be the only one getting shortchanged and treated rudely.
I only wanted to return bottles.
I'm filing a complaint via Return-It main office.
I encourage everybody else facing similar treatment, to do the same. These reviews haven't improved the Maple Ridge Depot's customer service or honest business conduct - maybe formal complaints will get that ball rolling.
Returning bottles shouldn't be made this difficult.

They will count 450 bottles "in their head" with 25 different types. They wont count and enter. Just count once. Enter once. You will be shorted on your return. Go somewhere where they count and enter infront of you.

There is no way you counted this many items and this many types and got it right.

I know you didn't because I had 3 small liquor bottles...not 1. I also had 87 pop cans not 86. Not sure what else I got shorted on but there is no way a person can remember all this information correctly once, and the first time.

Dropped off 2 bags at the express kiosk. Two weeks later and a bag with about $20 worth of returns unaccounted for and not refunded to my account. Called customer service, no answer, emailed, no answer. Many people use this service for fundraising, charities, this is not acceptable. To the owner of this company, take better care of your business, know what’s going on and make changes. I will never use this location again and will post my experience on all my social media accounts to warn others not to use the service or location

I return here because it's on my way home from work. Every time I return I fill up the same contractor bag full of mostly the same bottles. Lately the return back has been lower then expected. I don't want to have to pre count my bottles but i also do not want to be short changed. I may need to find another depot. I do feel for them having to deal with so many homeless people. It's getting out of hand.

Good place to return your empties. Good parking and usually not too busy. They give full value if you load the empties into the plastic trays.

Went to do a very small return that only ended up to $6.10. A woman that was leaving told me to count my returns because they just ripped her off. Normally I don't bother with that ,but I counted just to see. Sure enough they ripped me off & when I politely told them there is a mistake. The worker point blank denied it. Then I showed them the picture of the returns before I gave them in. No apology. That was a very small return ,but they most likely do this to everyone.
