The team at BC Underground really did a great job for me and my family with the replacement of an old failing 42-year old septic system with a brand new code-compliant and efficient septic system in the Langford area.

Having never dealt with septic systems before, I appreciated them coming by to walk through and discuss the steps of the construction project in detail, so that I understood what was going to happen. This really helped me comprehend the scope of the construction, and also helped me understand what things I could do in the yard to prepare it so that the machinery had the necessary space to move around. In my case, the old tank was in a very tight spot between the house, which is built on a concrete slab, a permanent shed sitting on a concrete pad, a 6-foot fence, and a patio that had a 2000 lb pergola installed on it. There was very little space to excavate around the old tank, and to prepare the new larger hole for the new larger tank. The guys at BC Underground assisted with my yard preparation before the construction even began, by bringing in an excavator early to move the very heavy (and expensive!) cedar pergola, as well as a children's playhouse, safely out of the way of the construction area.

After the construction was finished (only 5 days!), I was happy to find that the interlocking brick patio that the excavator was operating on was in great shape, and the cedar pergola was put back into place undamaged.

I'm an engineer and, looking back at how this project progressed, I think there are a number of key things that made this project successful: getting all the right components sourced and purchased before construction started, careful planning to ensure access and constructability, quick mobilization, bringing in the proper equipment (and team) to do the job, cautious excavation near building foundations, careful demolition and removal of the old concrete tank, diligent preparation of the ground for the new tanks, and proper timing of dump trucks to haul away waste and bring in new topsoil. I also have to give kudos to the excavator operator, who I'm sure could thread a needle with that machine! And also a big thank-you to the crane operator who somehow was able to squeeze the two new concrete tanks between some tall pine trees in my backyard and place them exactly where they needed to be for the new installation.

It's been only 9 days since the construction was completed and the BC Underground crew spread new topsoil in my backyard, and I already have green grass shoots coming up after seeding. It's impressive how quickly this type of project can come together, and your yard gets back to normal when you get a good team working for you.

Marek was incredibly informative (if not a little intimidating) and you can tell he is very professional and passionate about what he does.
