I feal hosed. I needed more product and a shopped around and found it for almost half the price at another place. What really got me is they wanted $150 delivery fee which is fine, but then they wanted to talk at 9% fuel charge on top of the delivery fee that should be included in the delivery fee. Shop around you will find a better price

I picked up 1 yard of top soil on May 15th and returned it immediately as it full of gravel. When I called I was informed that it was due to the dry weather. We went directly to the Landscape Store and purchased beautiful black top soil.

Customer service sucked related to acreage garbage bin. Wrote 4 or 5 emails, never got a response, phoned and was told I would get a call back from someone later that day, never happened. Also be sure to read the contract as #7 of it as I understood it to mean I could cancel the bin with 90 day notice during that period in any year, not so they say this applies only after 5 years (I was shocked), so still have 2 1/2 years of rent to pay for something we don't even use. If you're only getting your bin tipped lets say every 6 months than one should not be paying road tax for the 5 months in between as they are not coming to tip your bin. The recycling bins will probably be identical to garbage contract. I would recommend going with the red bin company as I believe one can opt out of a their contract every three months.

Got some soil delivered to my house. I asked when the soil would be here on the day we agreed for the delivery and they couldn't tell me (not a big deal in itself). On delivery day 4pm rolls around so I call to see what's going on since it's fairly late in the work day. After a callback, they say it's still coming. The guy arrives at 5 and I run out quick and say I'm just going to lay out a tarp quick. He says "You should have done that before I got here, sir". I was able to remain calm outwardly, but that comment irked me so much.

The area where he was to dump the soil was super exposed and a tarp would have just blown away there if it was laid out before hand. Also just pairing that comment with the fact they couldn't tell me when the delivery was going to come, and that I had been waiting all day for them to arrive was super annoying. Soil quality seems decent, but I'd probably look to try a different company in the future due to this experience. It's probably a better situation if you're able to go there and pick up stuff yourself.

I did say I'd like a call and received none the day of delivery (double checked my call history to be sure). They were not able to tell me morning or afternoon either when I asked what time they'd be coming. I think it's fair about the tarp safety, but it would be good to properly set expectations with customers from the start I think e.g. if what was written here was told to me on the phone I think it would've gone much smoother. Thanks for the response.

Disorganized and dysfunctional at best. They dump the wrong bin, then they dump when you don't want them to, they don't invoice you for months at a time and then they hit you with all the invoices at once, they keep your credit card on file when you repeatedly ask them not to, they have aweful contracts and they will violate their end of the agreement, you call them about issues and no one writes anything down so they repeat the issues and then act surprised when you call, when you have had all you can tolerate from them and you tell them to leave, they threaten you with liens and collections. If you don't want to be stressed out about your garbage collection DON'T call Allan's.

James came to my house to provide me a quote for a simple 10x12 stone patio. He arrived and immediately started talking about pergolas and trees and shrubs and grading my entire yard and ripping up our sod and resodding including beside my house and garage. We have lived here 10 years and never have had an issue with water which he insisted we would have by putting a patio in the middle of our yard. I advised him not to waste his time providing me a quote as clearly this was outside of what I had budgeted for and he insisted he still needed the $85 for his estimate. I received the estimate today and it was for an outrageous 27 thousand dollars and that was to rip up our existing lawn, grade it, and put in the patio. Nothing else. So no landscaping, no re-sodding, just ripping up our lawn and putting in patio, leaving the rest just dirt.

Picked up some topsoil to fill in some low spots in my lawn. Paid for a yard but could only haul 1/2 at a time. When I got home and started to off load the soil I found numerous twigs, chunks of clay, pieces of wire and some rusty nails. There was barely any actual dirt in it. Since it was the lower layer I didn’t care to much. I called Allen’s and told them about the soil I received, they openly admitted there was a screw up on the weekend and someone mixed something they should have not. They said they were going to screen it and should be ready later as I was in the middle of a project I could not wait. I was not offered any compensation just a sorry to bad for you.
I told them I would not be back to collect my other half yard and I ended up at the landscaping store which in my opinion much nicer and cleaner facility with great top soil at a cheaper price. Landscaping store will sell you half yards unlike Allen’s who will but not at half the price of a full yard, only 5 dollars cheaper then a full yard. All and all I was very disappointed and will not be returning to Allen’s for any future projects.

Buyer beware on sneaky charges. Website says $118 for delivery in Saskatoon but doesn't mention the Fuel, and Carbon Tax surcharges the tack on. 100% money grab on their part. Saskatoon Landscape Store offers delivery for a flat rate, no un-advertised surcharges.
