Reception was very informative and accommodating. Immunization booking was so caring and sensitive to my questions. Nurse was understanding and provided explanations and recommendations.

They were able to accommodate me in a short one day notice, and I am very thankful for it.

Reception is okay.
Disheartening to see them remove pretty much all infectious precautions though, in a medical facility of all places. No masks, no screens, kind of uncomfortable.

Not to mention I called to make an appointment for my spouse and I and the receptionist asked what "his" name was. I never said husband (spoiler alert, it's because my spouse is my wife). That made for quite the awkward interaction.

Edit: The staff other than the reception are quite condescending and unhelpful. I mentioned a lawsuit that my medication was facing and the nurse rolled her eyes and told me "we don't know if all that's true" when the staff hadn't even heard about the lawsuit until I told them. If you're not coming in demanding exactly what you want then they just kind of sit there and dont really help. Plus the standard of care isn't quite what you'd expect it to be. I already detested medical in this city, and I'm quite glad I'm eliminating any further reason to return to this place.

Absolutely first rate. Service was very prompt and friendly. Very efficient in identifying a tick and explaining the differences. Way better than some public health units in Southern Ontario that took weeks just to respond that they don't do it at all!

What an absolute joke. I was online today promptly at 5pm. And 3 different times I chose an appointment time for my vaccine, and each of the 3 times (using a different browser for each too I might add), I got an error message stating there was a system error and to try again later. Well, later resulted with all the vaccine times being booked up. And don’t bother trying to get through on the phone.....circuits were busy. I tried a fourth browser an hour later and then again 4 hours later (BTW it shows they have days that aren’t booked up yet). Got to choose a time and filled out the form...again........then another system error. Big surprise! They don’t care about the health of the residents of Algoma. The staff just collect a pay cheque. Typical entitled staff. The numerous negative reviews on social media, and the negative comments on their Facebook page clearly show that. But big surprise, they don’t even reply to their reviews or Facebook comments. Imagine if a private enterprise or a small business owner conducted themselves this way!! What a @&$#%€ joke. No “care” in “health care” at Algoma Public Health.

I applaud you Algoma Public Health for when I was down and at my worst feeling no hope for the Future You sent me an angel to lift me up and her name is Brittney DePasquale. Her professionalism and her compassion for the down laden immediately affected my thoughts for the future of my recovery.
Every negative I threw at her she turned into a positive never giving in to my doubts that she was there to advocate for my benefit. And when she had to let me go she made sure to pass on someone who possessed her same beliefs and her name is Andre.
I am moving forward with great excitement and learned so many good things because of Brittney and the women that work with her.
To anyone who is scared, or alone and feels like nobody cares? Please reach out to this organization because I am witness to the fact that Algoma Public Health truly cares for the people in Sault Ste. Marie ON.
