Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station is a Provincialy run AECL Candu 6 Heavy Water mederated; horizontal fuel channel Nuclear reactor located on the Bay Of Fundy.

Access to the site is very limited for obvious security reasons.

The plant is held to the highest safety standards both from peer organizations (they are part of an international group of Nuclear operators that share safety information to heighten Nuclear safety world wide. They also conform to strict conditions from the International Atomic Energy Agency who perform periodic and sometimes unannounced checks and balances from fuel to waste management and beyond).

The reactor was rebuilt from 2009 to 2013 for an extended 25-30 years of use. The reactor's fuel bundles are one of the lowest cost sources of thermal energy available (as of 2025):

A CANDU 6 fuel bundle price per BTU is approximately 0.000002 USD based on current market prices and the energy output of a single bundle, which is roughly equivalent to 1,100 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity.

Breakdown of typical prices per BTU for different power plant fuels:

Natural Gas: $0.003 - $0.004 per BTU

Coal: around $0.002 per BTU

Diesel Fuel: around $0.005 per BTU

Our understanding and exploration of Nuclear technology is the only way humanity can move forward. The new Moltex reactors are a model for all mankind.

A great and clean way to generate electric power. Much, much cleaner than coal, gas, or garbage burning power plants.

Should be farther away from Saint john. Incase of a meltdown. Great for economy though.

This is a horrible way to generate power, especially with all advancements in our time.
