Didn’t think I’d ever review a garbage dump, but here it is… since Stisted closed the nearest available transfer station for me is Rosewarne. Really nice attendant to weigh in and out, lots of space to turn around, and I don’t think I’ve seen a tidier site. Paper and plastic recyclables are separate of course and everything goes into bins. I’ve not been there yet with a dumper trailer so can’t yet comment on commercial type loads. There has been high volume traffic each time I’ve gone but the line was always reasonable. Debit/plastic payment is preferred. The donation barn could be tidier but I imagine there’s an ebb and flow. All of the regional transfer stations seem to have become quite expensive in the past couple years … not sure why. Guess I should read the strategic plan from the district! Anyways, maybe garbage dump reviews is my new niche.

Easy access from Taylor RD exit (HD & Walmart). A robust recycling and reuse program, as well rubbish and bottles & cans. There are two locations on opposite side of the road, the first is the tradition Muskoka-type transfer station, the second is down the road a KM and in the landfill site. This is the only municipal site in Muskoka that accepts roof shingles. They also offer a “clean shingle” diversion program that accepts shingles with nails at a reduced charge. By clean, they mean without wood, plastic, or other construction debris. a good deal and good program if you can organize to take advantage of it. Impressive overall and sophisticated operation for a remote area.

It's a dump... er, transfer station. But easy access from the highway, clean (well, organized), and good hours. I mean, it's a dump but if you live in the area (make sure you're in the catchment area) it's the best self-serve place.

Good spot to drop of all types of garbage, household, renovation and other types of junk. It's expensive if you have more than the weekly allowance for household garbage. We had 4 bags of garbage after a long weekend and the cost for the extra 2 bags was $16. No charge for recycling though.
