I been here a few times. This place can be busy, especially on Saturdays.

When I came in from the main artery, the first gate I turned left.

First, I see small buildings with containers to put in batteries, liquid detergent, bug sprays, paint sprays, paint, oil, etc.. (Free drop off)

They do have an area where I can drop off garbage. When I go in, I pass the Hazardwaste area and stay on the left side. I will see a sign saying garbage.

I go up to the arm. If it's down, I stop and wait until the arm goes up, then drive to the scale and stop, and then they will weigh my vehicle and garbage.

Then, the second arm will go up. Then I follow the combs till I see an employee. He or she will let me know what spot to use. If no one is there, I wait for a spot that is available.

I always back in because it's easier to unload. When I'm finished unloading, then I drive to the arm. If it's down, I wait. When it goes up, then I drive on the scale towards the small building, and I stop at the side of the building to greet the employee.

Then, the employee will let me know how much I owe. If my weight is up to 100kg, they charge me $11.00. If it's over 100kg, I pay more depending on the weight. Then I stopped at the stop sign. When it's clear, I keep going to the left side. I will see signs of recycling, cardboard, electronics, and metal.
(Free drop off)

They do have an area for yardwaste.
They do have spots that I can back up to unload my yardwaste bags, sticks, branches, etc. (Free drop off)

When I'm leaving, there is a gate to exit. There is a stop sign. Turn right to drive out to the main artery. If you turn left, it will take you to the employee parking.

I was told by the worker there to dump a car seat in the garbage area. I did as I was told and dumped it into the garbage. Afterwards I was then charged $10.50 for doing it. I was a bit taken aback since the fees are not posted when you drive in. When I told the lady charging me, she just said next time being more stuff to dump. People should be warned about the fees at the beginning, not told afterwards.

A dumping site for Hamiltonians, one of several and this is more remote but the staff I encountered was friendly and helpful. There is ample parking and most hazardous wastes can be dumped for free. This one is only open from Tuesdays to Sundays.

Called the city of Hamilton to inquire if this place accepts small appliances since the website seems to suggest they do accept appliances and electronics but it did not list specifics. The customer service representative indicated this can only be determined at the recycling centre. On Jul 14, 2018 around 1PM, dropped by the recycling centre. The young man at the hazardous waste trailer was most helpful. Unfortunately this experience was completely ruined by an older man stationed under an umbrella at the recycling bins. His attitude was most unhelpful, rude, and condescending. The instructions received at the trailer was refuted and disregarded by the older man, stating the other guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Overall very confusing operation but what I can't accept is the poor customer service by the older man. Recycling can be confusing. The public does not deserve this kind of treatment.
